Two Weeks in my Strange Life...

These past two weeks have been really crazy. I'll start with the weekend of February 18th - 21st. As you can see, that weekend was actually four days, instead of the customary two days. That is because that weekend was our mid-winter break at school. Unlike some schools in the area who also had the whole following week off of school, we only got the Friday before and the Monday after. Still, I was going to make the best of it. Unfortunately, though, that whole week before, I was sick, and the coughing and sneezing didn't stop just because it was mid-winter break. Yes, you read that right. I was sick for the whole vacation - not fun. Actually, the week before (when I thought I was getting better, but actually wasn't), my mom offered to let me stay home, but me being me, I had to tough it out and go to school. That wasn't a pleasant experience, especially in classes without tissues. I wasn't feeling any better when Tuesday rolls around, and low and behold, we have a snow day! I certainly wasn't expecting that, since it had snowed a while ago, but I wasn't complaining. After that surprise, the rest of the week was relatively normal.
That Sunday was not only the Academy Awards, but also my sister's birthday. She was kind of feeling worn out, so she had decided to not have a birthday party, but we still had an ice cream cake that she had made herself, and later, ate pot pie for dinner (dessert first!). I had no idea what to get for her (and had no money to buy anything), so I decided to draw her some drawings. I drew/painted three: one of an ice cream cone with watercolor pencils, and two with oil pastels - a picture of the earth that is now hanging in her locker and a drawing of what is supposed to be her in Regency-era dress. I thought they were pretty cool. She also got some books and a Pride and Prejudice trivia game (which I thought was pretty appropriate). While eating dinner, we watched the Academy Awards. I must admit, though I was excited to watch, they were pretty bad. The hosts weren't that funny and Anne Hathaway seemed to be overcompensating for James Franco's seemingly lack of interest. It was kind of boring and a waste of a couple of hours, but I did like seeing the fashion...
Anyway, this week was really messed up, as well. It was testing week - the Juniors had to take the ACT/MME/some other test, and I had to the PLAN test. Monday was a normal day, but the rest of the week, not so much. On Tuesday, the Juniors/my sister had to take the ACT, while I got to stay in and sleep!! I slept in until around 9:30, at which time my mom woke me up and had donuts waiting for breakfast. Yum! I did go out and shovel the pathway in front of our house, which left me with several bruises - some of which I still have. The rest of the day was pretty much filled with pointless amusement. On Wednesday, I got to sleep in a few hours (while my sister had to go in early, again!! Haha!) because the other half of my grade was taking the PLAN test. Apparently, they couldn't manage the whole grade at one time, and had to split us up?? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense (not really). Finally, on Thursday, I had to actually get up early. The PLAN test itself wasn't that hard. The first portion,English, I didn't really pace myself, so I had to leave two questions unmarked at the end, but the others I finished with plenty of time left. Although it doesn't really count, I still want to know how I did (hopefully well...). Lastly, on Friday, we were thrown another curve ball. Apparently the roads were really icy in the morning, and so we got a two hour delay, which was something I certainly wasn't expecting. We were about to leave for school, when we heard about the conditions on the road from the TV, and decided to call just to make sure that we still had school. Low and behold, we had a two hour delay. Even though I was already dressed and ready, I went back to bed for two hours, which was nice. When we got to school we found out that we just weren't going to our first and second hours. So all and all, these past two weeks have been verrrry strange. Until the next bizarre instalment of my life!

  1. I stumbled upon your blog after my agent's recommendation. My God girl! Your life is so complicated. Slow down a little. You will have medical problems. And the Academy Awards were not boring. I tried my best. Sorry if that was not enough for you. J. Franco
